![]() Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. The FDA statement includes the warning: “Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. ![]() The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has addressed the Jif recall, saying the Salmonella outbreak has already left at least 14 people sick and two hospitalized across a dozen states. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that Cargill was recalling select lots of their Milk and Dark Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Ritz Crackers, Peanut Butter Meltaways, and Peanut Butter Eggs and Fudge. Cargill has also issued a recall of peanut butter products. JM Smucker Company has voluntarily recalled their Jif brand peanut butter products due to a Salmonella outbreak. ![]()
